Default Fuel cap leaking

Have any one you had this issue? My fuel cap on my FXDC is leaking gas. I had my dealer replace the cap once already- and it is still doing it.

Never had that happen, but how much gas are you putting in if it's leaking?

Newer EFI cars have 'pressurized' fuel tanks and a 'returnless' fuel pump. I don't know what Harley is using.

If it's got a breather or relief valve on it, look for that to be clogged. If it's a pressurized fuel tank.........................??

Not sure how to know when ther's 4.8 gals in the tank, but I learned with mine that after tightening the cap.... klickity, klickity....
to push down on it with the palm of my hand and turn some more. Sure enough.... it'll klickity, klick some more.

I always fill mine full.

Now would you be able to know exactly how much gas is left in the tank, to be able to NEVER put more than 4.8gal in?? That sounds absurd.

Why not take it back to the dealer since they "fixed" it already?

Are you absolutely certain it is the cap that is leaking? On my FXD, it was leaking at the fuel guage. There are 5 screws (part number 1311D on the 2003 models) that are suppose to have a plastic sealing ring on them. These are the screws that hold the sending unit in. On my bike, 3 of the 5 screws came from the factory without the plastic seal on them. Replaced them for a couple bucks and no more leaks.
