Thanks to Ebay, we were able to purchase from Dealers across the country, several items for our Daughters 2006 Heritage Softail Classic. Can you believe Harley DISCONTINUED making and selling Complete Chrome Front Ends them? We found a Dealer in Florida who had a Factory Sealed Front end, and then found a Dealer in Oregon selling a pair of Factory Sealed PRE 2006 S/E slip on's pipes for her bike.
I cant tell you the $$$$$$$$ I've spent on items for both hubby's and my bike.
Some super deals can be had. I sold my Reach Seat to a gal in Ohio and a Willie G Mens Rain Suit to a fellow in North Carolina.

Almost every mod on my bike came from ebay. My favorite one was the Dyna tool bag you see in my pic. I had one without the bracket for months that I bought locally for 5 bucks. I never got around to making the bracket. I found a brand new one I ebay for $120. I bought it and then listed my old bag without the bracket on ebay. It sold for $95!!!!!

A 20 year old helmet better be the deal of the century, if its been stored anywhere that it gets ozone and other crap in the air it will have black dust instead of a liner in it. The styrofoam head protection might be alright, it usually feels pretty solid after years, but the "open cell" type of foam seems to get ate-up by time or atmosphere.
Ebay is a lot of fun though, I don't think you can get a better gauge of real selling prices than watching the auctions. Blue-book, schmoo book. If you want to know what its worth, put it on there, the bidders will tell you quick.
