Default Rake and Trail Issue

Can you help me with a Rake and Trail dillemma I have? I want to rake my super glide 18 degrees with 4 inch O/S but don't want a bobble head doll goin down the road. Which is better, after market trees or a frame cut and rake?

18deg seems a bit extreme but I'll go with it. There's no way that you can rake it 18 with trees, the frame will have to be cut. At this point you will use offset trees in order to get your trail dimensions back on track. Do a Google search for "Rake and Trail Calculator", plug in the numbers and see what it comes up with.

You could check out seeger cycles they make bolt on chopper kits. It looks like they only have them for 39 an 41mm tubes and 13 degrees of rake with 8-10 inch longer fork tubes. 18 degrees is alot

18 degrees and only adding 4" in length would be extreme, looks like you would lose about 6-7" in height in the front end.

AME makes a 9, 14, and 18 degree rake and the pics of finished bikes look great! I am rethinking the 18 though. May just do the 9 degree. Go to their site and check out pic #77. Thats the look I'm going for but again, I want to be able to ride it too!!! The Tifton Harley mech said "DON"T CUT IT"

What he said. I've got their 14 degree, 10 over tubes on mine and she rides better then when it was stock. They have done their homework for sure.

I have ridden and seen both the Seeger and AME systems up close. They are great systems, strong and well engineered. And I'm not one of those haters who will tell you its not a real chopper unless you cut the frame. Still, IMHO, the kits seem to look better on Sportsters than they do on Dyna's. Not diggen' on anyones's bike....not in the least. Its just my personal opinion. The kits seem to look a little out of place on th bigger bikes but seem perportionately perfect on the Sportys. So that being said, if I wanted to chop a Dyna, I would have a shop cut and reweld the frame. Just my opinion. On a Sporty, I would bolt on the kit.

No hate taken! Besides, if we all liked the same look on a bike, it would get kinda boring.
