It's not that bad ... I did the internal wiring on my bars before I reassembled my front end after swapping out to a 'wide glide' (Fat Boy take off) ... later took 'em off and had 'em powdercoated gloss black ... (so basically had to do it again) ....
There are numerous how-to posts ... it's just drilling about 4 holes ... one each below the switch housing on either side and then two below the riser (will need to file down the center hole, as well as putting a round/rat-tail file to smooth the edges of the other holes) ... the you can do the ol' vacuum and string trick or washer on a thread, etc. ....
[oh yeah ... also disassembling the connectors ....]
It's kind of a pain in the kiester, but once you get done and look at it, you'll be 'd@mn ... that looks so much better ... I should have done that a long time ago ...."
