was moving my rear turn sigs and while removing them i noticed that there was a difference in clearance between the left ang right side of the tire. the left side having less clearance. is this normal, or do i have a problem. bike rides great and no abnormal wear noticable on the tire, but tire is brand new. any info helpful. thanks
I have the same issue, and like mentioned before, became very apparent when I went to a slightly wider tire.
Here is one thing I did after I frayed a turn signal wire. Moved my turn signals and replaced the strut bolts and nuts.
I noticed that also on my Wide Glide, after I put on my 180, then I checked wheel alignment with the wire alignment tool and my axle was off about 3/16th of an inch. After I aligned my axle I had the same clearence on both sides of the fender. Just had to move it a little bit and that was all it took. Here is the before, you can see the tire is a little to the left. Whenever I looked at it, it drove me nuts

How did you go about moving it? Everything runs true now?

Do you know how to check your axle alignment? If not check your manuel, or do a search, lots of info on here. The tool you need is a very simple piece of wire coat hanger with a 90 degree bend. I used a very small zip tie around the wire to check the difference on each side. When I adjusted the axle I only had to move ot about 1/8th of an inch and it made the tire move about 1/4 of an inch and now the tire is centered and it's not driving me nuts anymore.

I loosened the axle and I knew I had to move the right side of the axle forward and did that by turning the axle adjusting nut till both sides were equal, torqued the axle back up, rechecked axle distance, checked the belt tension and everything was right.
