Default 2002 dyna super glide

I just purchased a 2002 FXR dyna super glide. Does anyone know what the FXR means? The bike came with a HD badlander seat. WOW! can't ride on that thing very long. I'm looking for a seat that will fit on the bike. I see alot of seats for dyna wide glides. Will they fit the super glide? Will a sportster seat fit?

Sportster seat will not fit ... stick with the seats made for your model and years ....

I am sporting a seat from an '09 Street Bob on my '05 Super Glide ... doesn't fit perfect, but good enough for me ....

Guess what I'm saying is you might be able to 'color outside the lines a little with the year (or might not be so lucky); but, you definitely can't use a seat from another whole model line like Sportster, Softail, V-Rod or Touring ....

Can't argue with your logic, but ....

The MoCo stopped using that Alfa designation when they introduced the "Dyna" line-up ... previously, the Super Glides were designated FXR ... up until '92 I believe .....

I stand by my advice WRT seats ... the other models' seat pans are different shape/size ....

On my bike, the frame beneath the seat is about 1/2" longer than the later models, so when the tab at the rear of the seat is bolted to the fender mount, the front tab that slides under the tank mount is a little short and at a slightly greater angle ... I just went ahead and bolted it down in the rear and used a zip tie to hold the front in place ... works okay and not noticeable ....

Here's a breakdown of the VIN, 1HD1GH=FXD
GJ=FXDX
GL=FXDXT
GD=FXDL
GE=FXDWG
If your VIN has the GH the you have the FXD Superglide. A good strong bike. The FXR is the fore runner to the FXD and had one of the best frames HD ever made.

Hey Sknydpr, yeah it is the oem stock single seat with a passenger pillon, was the cheapest way to go at the time.

Looks like you have the badlander harley seat, i've been told those aren't the most comfortable but I think they look more streamlined.
