When I bought my 07 WG. Had the 1000mile service notice cracks all over front tire. Was replaced for free. HD doesn't care what they put on your bike. If it is 6-9 years old out the door it goes. Doesn't say my for there prep after it is sold. You would think that would be part of the inspection before you pick it up....

I have a 2011, and after a good 250 mile ride, my tires started getting the bad cracks now. My bike just turned over 1500 miles. Dealer said they will replace it. I'm good with that.

that is totally ridiculous!

Seems to me they should be thinking about having a recall.

And $135.00 to change a tube? Hello Indys

Ive got about 5K on my oem Michelins and so far they're looking ok.
After reading this thread I'm going to start keeping a much closer eye on things!

The motorcycle tire business is fooked up at best. I ran a large truck stop that sold many tires ranging from small trailer tires up to tubeless tires for the big rigs. Anytime there was a problem with a sold tire, it was handled with a replacement at, quite commonly, no price, or if there were many miles on it, the exchange was based on tread wear. But having experienced my own problem with a mc tire that was obviously out of round, and that judgement backed up by another independent tire dealer, neither the HD dealership, AW Farrow in Columbus, Ohio, nor Dunlop, would either acknlowledge, or hardly even d respond to my inquiries about them helping me with my problem. Farrow did want to take my money with totally unrelated tests, but other than that my only real option was just buying another tire.

With the amount of front tire issues on '10 and later WG's (that I've read about on HDF), you'd think they (The MoCo) might issue a recall since our tires are so much more important to our safety. Just sayin...

That was a huge part of my argument with the MoCo dealer and the manufacturer, but its like they think they don't have an inferior product and their product certainly cannot be faulty.

Freakin idiots

Go ahead and try to get some redress, but don't hesitate to put good tires on your bike. For me, that's Metzler 880s. Whatever the price, good tires are always a good deal. I needed a rear, but changed them both and was amazed at the improved braking, cornering, and overall "feel" of the tires. I thought I had a fork issue, but the new tire fixed 95% of the loose, unplanted feeling. The good, longer that stock shocks were also a revelation. The bike is transformed from these two changes.

Me thinks you only told half the story!! Did you notice how the Pirelli stuck to the road like it was glued to it? I sure did and that's a function of a more live rubber. The Dunlops are a high carbon tire and they are famous for not cutting when wet like for snow plows and off road use. The Pirelli and Carlisle are noted for soft rubber but it really hangs in the corners and grabs the concrete. My next rubber on my 09 will be either Pirelli or Carlisle as I don't get to ride often enough to worry about tire cost.
