Default 2000 lowrider skipping?

My 2000 lowrider seems to be skipping intermittently, it runs fine then randomly will skip. it almost sounds like a shot of compressed air being released from the carb. I checked the plugs they don't seem to be fouled out or anything. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I would lean more towards it is tuned wrong than dirty. Not to mention you may have developed a leak taking the carb on and off. Be sure when you put the carb back on to put a little dawn on your finger and run it around the inside of the o-ring gasket between the carb and manifold. This helps installing it and also the dawn will dry and seal the o-ring better to the carb.
It would also help if you mentioned why your tuning the carb and what you have done, I can get you close to correct on your tuning this way.

do you have pipes too? Anyways, you will want to drill the plug to gain access to the idle adjustment screw. May already be done. Gotta start there. Second, the bike will run best with an 88 sportster needle and stock jets most likely. You can get better response with a carb kit like the dynojet, or better still for the money, www.harley-performance.com has a great kit with needle, jets, emulsion tube and spring. Good site for info on tuning your carb. The cheap route is head to Harley and get the 8 dollar sporty needle. 2.5-3 turns out on the idle screw adjustment and the bike should be really close to right. 27094-88 is the part # for the needle.
