Not sure what your looking for when it comes to how high you consider "mini-apes" guessing less then 10 inches in rise? Once you nail that down what about pull back I found a lot of the mini apes had more pull back then I was comfortable with. I ended up going with Khrome Werks Custom Bend Chrome Stretch Bad Boy Bars for 46$ plus tax. Did not need to change out any cables or such to run them put my hands out prefect for long distance rides. Looks are 90% of everything when it comes to H-D but for me.. comfort is that last 10% at the top of the list.
you know, I've read a lot about rise, width, pullback but to me they're all just numbers. I've gone to the dealer to try and see if there's a bike that has bars like I want to see what they'd feel like but no luck.. they don't have anything like what I'm looking for.
Krome Werks you say? I'll check them out. I appreciate your input. Keep the rubber side down.
Why not spend a night or two at a local bike night? If you see a bike with bars you think you may like ask the owner to test them out, by sitting on his/her bike.
During Myrtle Beach (South Carolina) bike week, I met a young guy who had an 06 wide glide. He was pretty cool and asked if he could test out my 16" apes because he was thinking about installing a set. I didn't mind allowing him the chance to check the feel.
Check ebay or the HDF classifieds as someone is always selling a set of take-off mini-apes that were standard on the 06-08 wide glide. I remember selling my whole setup for around $150 or so.
Just swapped the Mini-Apes on my '07 Wide Glide. If you are interested in them, PM me and we can work something out. They are in perfect condition and I have the stock risers, cables and brake lines as well.
