Hmmm. I have manuals for both the 2000 and the 2007 and both say 60-80 in-lbs. That's around 5 ft-lbs but I've never seen a torque wrench that could go that low and be accurate. Better off with an in-lb model.

The information in my manual is for 2010 touring models but I found it interesting that not only do they have the spec but a tightening sequence. Manual says to tighten the bottom nut to 9 - 18 inch pound and then tighten the top nut to 100 - 120 inch pounds then tighten the bottom one to 100 - 120 inch pounds. I chose to tighten mine to 110 inch pounds.

I also found that after the install of the new exhaust system (D&D Boss Fatcat 2-1) that I had to re-torque the nuts after 500 miles.

agreed and agreed, everything you said is what my manual says and what I had to do after the initial torquing.

Thanks for the info. I'm hoping to take out some vibration out of my pegs. Dealer checked the motor mounts and said they were fine. Also did an engine alignment and the vibes seem worse than before to me. We'll see.
