I have an 05 wideglide and found a plastic rectangle shape piece laying in front of the rear tire. It appears to be from a matching hole in the rear fender. Question is does it press in from the outside or inside.

If you have a look at this parts diagram p/n 99 is mounted like icufltrn stated above:
it should go up under the taillight - i have no idea how they stay in there, not much holding it in place
...matter of fact i have to check mine after I had to resolder the turn signals over the weekend - i wish that piece had a more positive locking mechanism like a screw or better snap
