Default Iron Butt Check list

Getting ready for a Iron butt 1000 this weekend. Got my last good test run in today, 300 miles with the last 100 in the rain. Wont get any real miles in before the run now.

When I got home I started making sure the bike was ready.

Changed the Fluids
Cleaned filter
Lubed cables
Adjusted clutch (it was a little off)
Checked belt
Checked tires (will recheck pressure later)
Fixed right blinker that wouldnt shut off so I dont annoy the other guys lol

Gave it a good wash, checking for anything loose in the process.

Anything else any one would check before heading out?

I will start packing supplies tomorrow after some of the stuff dries from the rain today.

Sounds like you have it covered pretty well. Good luck on the ride, have fun and get plenty of sleep before you head out.

Sounds like you have it covered as far as the bike.
Next time I do one I will make sure I have my full face along with me in case it rains again, I already picked up some good rain gear. A bandanna to wet around your neck if it is hot. Not sure what you wear for a helmet, but a pair of yellow sunglasses work great at night.
Enjoy the ride, and be safe.

Ya I really wish I had my full face today. I couldnt see crap since my glasses kept fogging up and got water in them.

Full face will be in the bag for sure. Just got a new rain suit so good to go there and bought some boot gaitors today when it started raining hard and we were 100 miles from home.

You probably are already well aware but make sure you keep all receipts and don't be a fool like I was and not get your start and end gas receipts. Did you print out the log on the Iron Butt site?

Let us know how it goes.

Good luck with your ride! I'm doing one next weekend.

Just curious - do you carry a tire repair kit?

find you someway or where to put a bottle of water that you can get to when riding. I just did a three day run in 90 degree weather down to nashville tn first day was 600 miles second day just goofed off around nashville with some locals and then third day rode back home 500 miles total 1300 miles from sunday morning 9am to tuesday evening 10pm. I had my T bag behind me and in one of the side pockets i had a bottle of water i could get to made it nice on the long stretchs to get a drink. Had gum to chew and life savers lol helps keep the mouth from drying out. Also get some good sun screen and chap stick with sun screen in it.

Good luck and stay safe.

Camera! Be sure to take a camera and a few pics from the trip. Then you can publish a coffee table book called "Gas Stations, Rest Stops, and Burger Kings of the Midwest". Good luck with the trip.
