i also prefer mid controls i thought about forward controls as i,m tall but i had the seat raised to compensate for it.the main reason for staying with mid controls. about ten years ago i was riding home from work when a taxi pulled across in front of me i was only doing about 40mph my v max ploughed into the space between the front wheel and the wing of the taxi this all happened so fast but it was like slow motion at the time naturally i applied the breaks but what saved me was, and this is the reason i,ll stick with mid controls i stood up on the pegs like i was riding a trailee and was flipped over the bonnet of the taxi and landed on my **** and feet in the road the other side.still ****ed my back up had to have some time off work but if i hadn,t reacted the way i did and to this day i still don,t know how i did it i reackon my legs would have been trapped under the handlebars smashing them up and then my head would have smashed down into the bonnet. food for thought

I prefer the mid controls also. Guess its just what I am use to, since thiat is what I have always had and have not been able to get a comfort level with forwards.
I'm getting the forward controls put on today at the stealer...
I am comfortable on the mids, I find myself putting my feet on the highway pegs more often than I should so I am going with the forwards.... although I am a little nervous about it because any stop and go traffic and stopping on a hill might be uncomfortable. I am 5'9", so I am going to see if the dealer can keep the mids mounted for now while I try and get used to the forwards.
I bought all new pegs, brake peg, shifter peg, etc. so should there be a problem keeping the mids mounted?
I'd had mid controls on all bikes , including my first HD , when I got my WG I experienced quite a difference in my riding technique . For the twisties I prefer mid controls, although I have acclimated fine to forward controls, and find them comfortable for all day rides.
Get the best of both worlds, just put a set of highway pegs on and you'll be able to stretch your legs and change positions during a long ride. I have hwy pegs on my SG custom and lov'em
