Default Master Cylinder Replacement...Any Advice?

Workin' on my '07 Super Glide. Laid it over in the gravel and wanna clean up the bars by replacin' the master cylinder on the handle bar. Will I need to bleed the whole line, or can I get away without doing so? Any other advice?

Cheers!
Wendell

You'll have to bleed it. If you don't have the H-D service manual and parts manual for your bike, I recommend both -- good instructions for any master cylinder repair.

Bleeding brakes is easy, just tedious. If it's Dot-4 then be careful -- it will eat your paint.

bleed it - its not that hard, and should be done anytime you open the system up

Wendell,

IMO you should bleed the whole system and change the brake fluid.

Here's some useful info for you on working the front master cylinder.

Thanks for the great replies everyone, as well as the link. That's all the info I need to get this done. Then I'll have to do the pipes and mirrors when I'm home from the rig next time.

Cheers!

That is what the manual recommends and trust me it really does make a difference!

Advice accepted gentlemen. Being a long time Corvette owner, I know full fluid replacement makes a difference with many of those cars. And although I don't know if it makes a difference in these calipers and their seals, I know it can't hurt either. Will run the full process!

And besides, any excuess for a few more beers is a good thing......as long as it doesn't **** up the process in the porcess!!

Cheereses!
