hey guys,
I'm lost ... My bike was running great before I left on vacation ... came back warmed up bike one morning and now every time I warm up and ride off for the first mile or so I get acceleration issues almost as if there's trouble getting fuel to carb ... but again its only first mile or so! if any of have some suggestions on what to do please let me know ASAP ... I'm wondering if the the dyno tune I did this spring affected how it preforms in the summer ...
For ***** and giggles you think you neg. battery terminal might have vib'd a lil loose? I've had that happen to me twice. Bike would sputter, jolt and hessitate, just a few twists on the bolt on the neg. side of the battery and good as new.
how long was your vacation/ how old is the gas in there... it could be the gas .... ethanol separates and moisture accumulates and the fuel becomes less viable.
I will try the battery thing and see if that works ... as far as how long vacation was it was only 2 weeks ... Intialy I thought it might that but honestly 2 weeks isn't long enough and 2nd I've already gone thru that tank and still doing that!
don't think it could be a battery issue if It corrects itself after a mile...sounds fuel related or the plugs are fouling by being on the enrichener. How do you warm it up?
According to my dealer, it's a warm-up issue. They claim that you are supposed to let the FI-equipped models idle for 5 minutes before riding away to alleviate that issue. I asked them because mine was doing it so bad one day that it almost threw me off. I let it warm up more now, and no issues.
I just had the plugs changed when it was dyno-tuned during AZ bike week so I doubt its that ...

My bike has a carb and I let it idle for the better part of 5-10 mins ... and I wonder whats a good temp? I have a laser thermometer I can use to test ... does anyone know?

Don't warm it up longer than it takes to come off the choke.
....And to the person whose dealer told him to let the F.I. bike warm up, he was floating a turd by you to see if you'd hit it.
It sounds to me that your plugs are fouled and/or you have some crud in the carb and/or you may have a leak around your intake manifold that seals back up when the engine warms up.
Check your plugs; if they are rich (black/wet) fouled just clean them up, gap 'em @ 0.040 and re-install.
If that doesn't cure the problem check the intake for leaks: with the engine running @ idle spray some carb cleaner around the manifold where it mates to the cylinder head on each cylinder. If the RPM is affected, you have a leak and need to replace those gaskets.
If the RPM doesn't change then chances are you have some sediment stuck in one of the jets and need your carb rebuilt.

sound like the issue to me. 5-10 minutes is way too long. If the bike is dyno tuned, you should pull the enrichener out, start, then push back in half way. After maybe a minute or less the bike should idle on it's own so push the enrichener all the way in. At this point you can warm up for another minute if you really want to but the bike is fine to just ride off on. I pull my enrichener, start drop to 1/2 then go It only takes me about 15 sec. on the enrichener before the bike runs on it's own(little more on cold days below 50). I think you are idling it too long and fouling the plug at warmup. You can see this easily by going through your usual warmup ritual then shutting the bike off and pulling the plug... guarantee it is all black loaded with carbon buildup. Another thing, if the wrench that tuned the bike did not make certain there are no intake or exhaust leaks, and you have one, well he also will have had to tune the idle AFR too rich to get it to idle smoothly compounding the problem.
