I will try the battery thing and see if that works ... as far as how long vacation was it was only 2 weeks ... Intialy I thought it might that but honestly 2 weeks isn't long enough and 2nd I've already gone thru that tank and still doing that!
2-3 weeks is about all it takes anymore. Fuel is crap these days.
sound like the issue to me. 5-10 minutes is way too long. If the bike is dyno tuned, you should pull the enrichener out, start, then push back in half way. After maybe a minute or less the bike should idle on it's own so push the enrichener all the way in. At this point you can warm up for another minute if you really want to but the bike is fine to just ride off on. I pull my enrichener, start drop to 1/2 then go It only takes me about 15 sec. on the enrichener before the bike runs on it's own(little more on cold days below 50). I think you are idling it too long and fouling the plug at warmup. You can see this easily by going through your usual warmup ritual then shutting the bike off and pulling the plug... guarantee it is all black loaded with carbon buildup. Another thing, if the wrench that tuned the bike did not make certain there are no intake or exhaust leaks, and you have one, well he also will have had to tune the idle AFR too rich to get it to idle smoothly compounding the problem.
Rounder and myself have now cleared any confusion about letting an H-D idle for warmup - DON'T DO IT!

Good to know that The Motor Company's literature, owner's manuals, mechanics, and salesmen all lie to the customers.
You may be right about the old, carbureted models, but the modern fuel-injected and computer-controlled models need to be warmed up for at least 5 minutes prior to moving, unless they are already hot.
