Default wiring extentions question 07 BOB

when changing to apes and extending the wires do you extend the wires that run down the bars from the controls or.....do you extend the wires from under the frame of the bike????? I cant seem to get the harness off the wires that run from the handlebar controls down the bars.

You need to pull the seat and once you open up the area under you should see a large loop of wire that runs to the main frame tube under the tank. That is the main wiring harness for the controls as well as gauges and signals.
Follow the wires down from the bars where they go into the frame just in front of the tank.
Feed the wire from under the seat as you pull on the wires in front of the tank, once you pull it through you will find the connectors for the harness.
You take the connectors out of the plastic bodies and that is what you extend.
When you are all done work the wire back into the frame in reverse of when you pulled it out.

I think *redbob 07* *probably* is working with an 07 streetorfatbob.

in which case the seat is not where to look.

if I am correct,

look at the frame under the tank at the front.

my bike was externally wired from the factory. Ounce i pulled the bars off aswell as all controls, i found that the external wiring from the bars connected (deutsch connectors) right under the tank in the frame.....i didnt have to route the wires up the frame from the seat.

Yes the connectors are under the tank, but there is a slack loop under the seat, it is the only place it can be stored, when they pull everything back into the frame.

YES, you extend those wires, as shown in the video, those wires run through the frame back to under the seat.
There are 2 ways get the the connectors out to make it easy to work on, pull hard, which may damage the wires because they run back to a slack loop under the seat, or feed the wire from under the seat so you do not damage them.
Whatever works for you...
