Default Street Bob VS Low Rider VS Custom

Long time rider but first time Harley purchase. I am having trouble deciding and would love some feedback, good and bad on these models. I am 6'2" 210 lbs. Mid controls don't bother me but I will probably have forward controls in the end. So 2010 Street Bob (vivid black) for $13000 out the door, 2009 Low rider $14,200 (two tone paint) or 2010 super glide custom in two tone paint $13,500. I do have some questions about which is the easiest to customize and which model has better resale??? Thanks in advance

Around here Lowriders seem to hold their value the best but it isn't a huge gap from the others. Customizing is basically equal - which model has the most stuff you like already thus the least to change? If you're into chrome, the LR or Custom are probably best, but if you like the blacked out look the SB gives you a head start with the black engine.

Have you looked at the Fat Bob and Wide Glide? I only ask cause your indecision seems to indicate that none of the three you listed really grabbed you by the heartstrings and said "TAKE ME!"

At your height, I'd also worry about fit. The lower bikes might not be as comfortable. I'm only 5'8" with a 30" inseam so forwards aren't in my future, but after we lowered my girl friend's 2000 Lowrider I feel like my knees are in my neck sitting still. It was marginal for me at stock height. My SB, on the other hand, is perfect for me.

Two words: Street Bob

And when you switch out your mid controls to forward consider the Kuryakin 3" extended forwards. I am 6'2" with a 36" inseam and have the standard forward controls now and when i have the $ i will be installing the Kury extension kit. The 3" extended are recomended for anyone with a 34" or longer inseam. I think it will make riding much more comfortable.

The only downside to the Street Bob is the confort of the stock seat. It is like a peice of leather stretched over a steel plate. I am having it sent out to have memory foam inserted soon. Or if you have the $$ for $200 you could put a mustang solo on instead.

Love the Bob!

Answer this question?
Are you into chrome or not?

If you answer YES then go the FXDC (Superglide Custom) or FXDL (Low Rider)route.

...then consider if you want the additional idiot lights that come with the FXDL. some folks like the display and the idiot lights, some don't.

If you answered NO then go the FXDB route.

The Black engine argument does not apply with regard to the 2010 models as The 2010 FXDC, Super Glide Custom has The BLack Engine.

Cheers,

Tom

No argument. Yes it has the black engine but it also has a number of chrome bits like the primary, cam cover, tranny cover, battery box, etc., that the FXDB doesn't. So if you're going blacked out the Bob leaves few pieces to change out.

I'm leaning towards the Bob but I thought the low rider might be a better deal. I am going to ride the LR today and compare, Thanks

Items that were important to me that steered me to the FXDC (custom). SSS - Smart security system which is basically fob in pocket and go. No key hunting nor hassles. Also, all that chrome over the streetbob. The low seat on the low rider ripples quickly but that can be upgraded or replaced. I put a CVO low profile leather seat on my bike and it not only sits me down an inch but back too which is need at 5'11".

FWIW, I have put just shy of 2000 miles on my Low Rider in the 3 months I have had it. I am 6'3", 285ish lbs with a 32" inseam and have little problem with the mids or the height of the bike. I DO like that it comes with the highway pegs though and I can work the brakes and shifting with my heels in a pinch... Having only ridden the Low Rider though, I don't have much insight into the other options.

Street Bob: Blacked out parts mean less polishing and more riding.
