Default heres the question?

i have a 05 deluxe. my boss has a dyna wide-glide. i forget the year but it was the first year h-d came out w the belt drive. he went on aride and developed a squeak/squeal from the rear of the bike. loud enough for others to notice. he has v-h longshots and he can even hear it. the bike is carberated. he changed rear sprockets when he bought it and had the pipes installed and the carb rejetted. he took it to an independent who he trusted. told them to do the 10k service and find/fix the noise. picked it up less than 50 mi. and noise appears again. any body have any ideas? please help as no nothing about dynas. ride free, ride often, ride safe. doug

Could be that the belt/sprocket are misaligned or the rear wheel that causes the belt to pinch against the side resulting in a squeal. That could be a long shot, but have him check the rear wheel alignment and make sure it is equally adjusted on both sides of the swingarm.

Just a thought.

I'd say something is machined improperly from the factory. Whenever new parts are added or adjustments are made, things will reseat and the noise will return.

I had a soft tail that would squeal and I would ocassionally wipe the side of the belt with Armorall to stop it. I am not trying to be a smartass but sometimes these problems are just not that serious.....

I agree. Have them check rear wheel alignment and belt tension.

Definitely check the alignment. If it's fine you can stop some of these by running a bar of soap down the belt sides. Works best when the belt is running, but you need a secure bike jack and a trustworthy partner to run the bike on the stand while you do it.
