I really would love to put new chrome switch housings on my bike. I have 07 super glide custom. I have checked out harley and seen the prices and even the work to get them on and it looks a little intimidating. So I saw the Kuryakyn kind that just go right over your stocks by adhesive. Just wondering if anyone has gone this route? Dont wana put crap on and just have to redo it later. Maybe someone knows some different brands that are good and a little cheaper than HD. Let me know, thanks..
Changing the controls is no big deal if you take your time and pay attention. Don't waste your time on those cheapass Kury covers, I doubt you would like the look of them.
Be especially careful getting the wires back in and tightening everything up.
i do not put any chrome on that requires a sticker to work! they are pretty easy to do if you do the chrome ones, you will need small torques heads, you just basicly open it up, unscrew one screw in the middle of the housing, remove the old, put on the new put back in the screw. the only one that is a bit touchy is the throttle side, you have to loosen the throttle cables at the adjusters right off the bends, this will give you play, remove the top of the switch cover, from here remove the trottle cables from the grip (the little brass guides the cables are in come off so do not loose them) pull off the grip, from here you can just pull the cable out from the bottom of the housing may have to twist it a bit it is just a snap ring holding it in place (mark what one is front and rear so it is easier) then unscrew the throttle lock (there is a small C clamp on that as well) put that in your new housing. then go though the same process one screw put on the new one, there is also a brake light swich to get this out, you just remove the small "V" then push in the switch and it willpop right out, to install it is the same but in reverse. I have changed mine out 5 times and done countless others for customers as it is a popular item to powder coat, if you have any questions let me know man i can walk you though it
on a scale of 1-10 i give it a 3 for the dificulty level
my dad is a chrome guy as well so i did them on his scoot not to long ago

You would be very disappointed with covers, Its not that bad a job. Look around on the Internet, you can find the real thing pretty reasonably priced.
I'm no electrician but switching from black to chrome controls is not hard. There is a little screw inside that holds down a bracket. Once removed, the switches will come out pretty easily. You should have no problem swapping the covers.
Swapping covers is easier than swapping the switch covers. I kept the black covers and went with chome switch cover and it was a pain. None broke going back on and I didn't loose the brass throttle cable ends. Turned out nice I think.
I mounted the chrome switch housing kit on my FXD 2003 a few years ago (see image)
The Instruction Sheet (chrome switch housing kit ...70222-96B )is clear enough to do it yourself, just take your time to read them and follow the instructions step by step. Before I started to take the black ones off, I took some pictures to have a reference on how to fit the wires etc in the chrome ones....
thanks so much guys! I ordered the switch housing and master cylinder/clutch covers today! I opted not to order the chrome switches, they looked very tedious and intimidating to do.
