Now I am confused. With every other bike I have owned common knowledge was: Slip-on mufflers only require no further modification, Full exhaust requires some type of ECU upgrade (PowerCommander, Cobra Fi 2000, Etc).
Now some employees at the local Harley shop explained I can install certain full exhausts systems, as long as they are baffled, and the stock ECU will compensate by itself. Stage 1 download is only recommended.
Upgraded ECU is only required if I decide to upgrade the intake to a SE heavy breather or similar.
Has anyone else received similiar information? I just want to make sure I am doing things the right way. I want to focus mainly on performance. Thanks for any suggestions.

If its performance you want then just swapping out the pipes won't do you much, if any, good. That "upgrade" is for looks and noise only. If you want some performance then you want the pipes plus a better flowing A/C plus something to adjust the AFR to match, like a SEPST.
If I were in the market for an exhaust right now I'd be looking at the V+H competition
FYI the V&H Comp series is a high RPM output exhaust. It works well on racing platforms, but doesn't give you the "roll-on power".
If you want PERFORMANCE you've got to get a 2-1. Otherwise it's pretty much looks and...a glorious sound.
Your stock ECM has a range of influence. It CAN cover a pipe and AC swap and you DO NOT need a new tune or the SERT they'll try and sell you. It works just like riding up in Colorado vs sea level. Your bike can adapt within that range.
I put a RSD intake and V&H shortshots on my bike with a stock ECM and had no issues. That being said, my bike ran much better with an after market tuner.
BCT baffles to your pipes and they have great sound
