Default Excessive pop on decel

What is considered excessive pop on decel? Probably a stupid question, just wondering

Gurgling is ok...
Popping is fine too.
BANG! is bad.

Try tightening (retorquing) your header bolts. It may work if there is a slight leak. If that doesn't work, spend the money for a dyno tune... I'm assuming you have a tuner of some kind (SERT etc.).

I have a fuel pack on, I put slip ons on it yesterday. It pops slightly when deaccelerating.

If you roll off the throttle completely and it still pops on decel, then it's too much. I recently tuned mine out by buying a SEPST and using the Smart Tune feature.

I might get a pop once in a blue moon....but trust me it runs soooo much better now.

Did you change the settings in your fuel pak after putting the slip-ons on the bike?

The Fuel Pack may not be able to get all the popping out, you would need a more advanced tuner. If you only have slight popping and it doesn't bother you, live with it. Still, talk to the techs at V&H and they can give you some other codes to try.

I have a power commander on my wide glide and I get popping on decel as well. It's not real bad but it is annoying...will a dyno tune really make it stop?

Most backfires through the exhaust on decelerating in gear, is due to an exhaust leak. What happens is, air that is sucked in from the leak during deceleration, mixes with the unburnt fuel exiting the cylinder, and fires when it reaches the minimum air/fuel ratio, causing the backfire. Check your exhaust gaskets, mating surfaces (between pipes and/or mufflers) and search for holes. In many cases, when you fix the leak, the backfire will go away.
