Yeah, if you're planning to black it out the Street Bob is the way to go for sure. A silver FXD looks ok with the "blond" motor, but other colors look cheap with that motor to me. The FXDC is a much sharper bike, but only if you like chrome. I was planning to put black parts on my SB when I got it, but have since decided "some" chrome is good.
My 02 FXD has the silver motor. Over years the motor got the chrome treatment. The paint is vivid black. With that chromed /silver engine in the black paint the engine stands out like a monster motor. A $1000.00 would be cheap compared to what has been invested in mine.
anyone had any trouble finding the bike they want? i have been to 5 harley dealers and haven't seen a single street bob. i have only seen one super glide. i was told the new model year is coming out in roughly 3 weeks, not sure how quickly the dyna's go?
I know Tibbys in Springfield, MA has a SB for sale if you'd like a little fly and ride. Saw it on display on display at this past Thursday Bike Night down town. http://www.tibbysharley.com

Went up to the Harley dealer closest to me here in Korea, they didn't have any Street Bobs either. They had almost every other model, some models they had several of. Maybe they didn't ship many Street Bobs in to country here? I don't know what the inventory has been in the states, they may not have put many on the showroom floor either. Who knows. I think the new models come out Tuesday, 27 July, but that could just be the "unveiling". I'd imagine there are some new 2010 Street Bobs around, maybe you just need to ask a dealer to get you one.
Dealer here in B/han, WA had an example of all Dyna model last month - now only an 09 FXDL and one sack 10 FXD & FXDC. At that time I rode them all and decided on a FXDC - I was going to get the two tone one they had but saw a black one at another dealer and liked it better (cheaper too) so they check other dealer in state and found one in Yakima at a dealer they trade with so a swap was made and I got the colour I liked. Moral of the story.......ask them to check around. Last week they said 2011's will start arriving very soon.
