Some old school make over.
Yeah, I know theres nothing old school about an Evo, but I have been finding more and more uses for the Shovelhead parts I have been stashing in my basement over the years. My wife has been yapping about putting some of my "junk pile" (as she calls it) on ebay and using the money for useful stuff. So being off work today I was sifting threw my pile and found this. I was about to put it on ebay as its probably not even a genuine AMF Harley part, but more likely a chinese re-pop, when I started holding it up to the Dyna. Well, it didn't take to long to figure it might look unique on my Evo. Its meant for a 70's era Shovelhead FLH touring bike, but I just saw it as a large hunk of chrome that needed to be installed. As anyone whose ever had an aftermarket Shovel part knows, most of the stuff is asian junk, so I wanted to keep the original belt guard in place since its light years better than the Shovel part, both in terms of strength and design. For the most part all I needed to do was trim the Shovel chain guard down and fit it over the Low Rider stock guard and bolt it on. Anyways, here it is. Just wanted to share.
Here's the part as I found it in my pile:

Here's what I figured was all I really needed:

Here's the Chain guard bolted to the stock Dyna belt guard:

This is how it looks bolted to the bike with a couple bolts even added to fill the dead holes....just for looks, yah know:

Here she is, all finished up, out in the driveway:

Well, thats it...I'm going riding. Can't work on the bike that long and not get out to enjoy such a nice day on her. Just wanted to share.

Thanks guys. Yah, I was hoping that it would flow with the rear fender better than the plain belt guard did. I'm pretty Happy.
