Default How Long....

Should it take a competent Tech to Swap out Pipes, Intake and Drop in a Programmed PC V? I've found a local guy I might use, I just want to be forearmed with some knowledge, I'd rather not get billed 5 hours for a 3 hour job.

Thanks in advance.

JV

I swapped my pipes in an hour and would expect the same for a tech. The PC was already in my bike but I can't imagine more than an hour to route wires, disconnect O2 sensors, and download a map.

Jon, if you're worried about getting screwed do the job yourself. It's not difficult.

Do it yourself and then you"ll know it's done right. It's not hard. Might get a manual and save yourself some money.

You can do all of it yourself in under 3hrs for free! Why pay $100's in labor for something that can easily be done by anybody?

Ah, yes it is an easy DIY, problem is I have a bit of a disability. I can ride fine.... Short version of a Long Story, It is difficult to kneel or bend even for short periods (moments) . I've got a local guy that offered to do it.... didn't yet discuss the rate, I just wanted to get a Handle on time needed.

Thanks all for your replies.

Sorry to hear, Jon. If you have the space, put the money you'd spend on labor towards a lift table. You can raise your bike up to a comfortable working level. Or, you can help keep those small businesses alive and well.

By the way, what part of Northern Jersey? I grew up in Hawthorne. Still visit once or twice a year.

Anything under 3 hours would be a fair quote to do all 3. I did mine at different times but I just did all 3 on a buddies Rocker a few months ago and probally took 3 to 4 hours taking my time. The PC install took a little longer on the Rocker as well because you have to remove the rear fender along with some other stuff on it.
