I'm interested in a Dyna Wide Glide but have problems with my leg
mesurment not reaching the forward controls. UK dealers inform me that
mid controls can be fitted but are very expensive. A reach seat goes
some way to correcting the problem but the forward controls still need
to come back slightly more.
The Reduced Reach Control Kit that's available for the VRSC would be a
solution. Anyone know - Will the foot rests from this kit fit the Wide Glide with a standard exhaust?
Any information on an aftermerket kit would be excellent.
Dyna Wide Glide pretty bike really like that style myself. If you are just starting out however be sure what you get fits you. I do not have that problem since I am 6'3" but my best friend who went from a Sportster to a RoadKing because he was tired of hearing its only a Sport (you know the drill) Problem is he is short and only reason he was not having more problems was of the lighter bike. All are driving is now local so he never got use to the RoadKing and dropped it 2 time in his yard and once on the street at slow speed. If your feet do not reach the forward controls well I would not think standing over the seat of a WideGlide would give you and flatfooted leg spread on the ground. Be sure to get that right also. I would think you would need a new seat and controls which should be part of the deal.
Ther Super Reach seat brings me forward but I still need to bring the footrests back about an inch. My arms are fine on the bars so any further forward is too much. KAUFMANSM - Where do I get peg elivators? Are they a HD part - I know the V-ROD kit is available but will the pegs from that fit a Dyna.
Agree grf000 but UK dealers want money for any mods and nothing off the list price - Yet!
There the same way over here on this side of the creek. I was shopping for a new Harley around 05 and after talking about an hour I suggested lets just settle on book which was around 18K for a Softail Custom with all the taxes and stuff. He came back with the best deal they could make was 23K. I said what's up with that, that's 5K above what Harley says on the Harley.Com web site. He comes back with that's what we are getting but will throw in 2.5K worth of add on chrome. I walked away and got me a used one for around 7.5K . Sold it two years later for a fair price and got me another one now that I had been driving one and really knew what I wanted. The dealer was trying to be a pig. He lost two sales over it. One advantage I have over some is if I have a problem I can fix it. Most engines with sleeve bearing show their problems if they have them. Harleys with all the roller and ball bearing really go to pieces when something goes wrong if the previous owner abused it.
I am 5'10"... I got some floorboards on ebay for 35 bucks... did the trick for me. You can combine them with the reach seat. Should do the trick for you.
