So far my best tank on the Bob got me 44mpg but that was mostly highway miles and after the 95" upgrade was broken in. The average is 35-38mpg when I'm running the **** out of it around town. Pretty good if ya ask me. It usually takes 2.5-3 gallons when I fill it up.
My mileage on my L'rider is all over the map. On nothing but highway - taking advantage of 6th and keeping a conservative wrist, I can eek out about 50 mpg. In day-to-day commuting traffic, I get 34-36. If I have fun with the throttle, mileage goes to hell and I'm looking at about 30.
Are you sure on those numbers? That would mean you're getting in excess of 50 mpg. Now I can see if you never rev the engine and are going down hill with the wind at your back you'd get that kind of performance, but sure seems high to me?

Hope this helps
i have a 05 fxdli i mostly get between 200-225 to a tank i usually buy anywere form 1-4 gallons at a time i know when i bought mine the salesman told me not to trust my guage or my light but i changed my plugs to autolites they seem to help with gas prices these days every bit helps
I usually start planning to get gas when I'm up to about 150 mi, but I have gone 175 mi once. That time I was only able to put 3.472 gallons in & it also happened to be my best mileage tank too at 50.4 mpg. My average mileage since I got the bike is 43.94 mpg. Most of my riding is on back roads, so I don't get into 6th gear enough to get the best mpg though.
Nice pic Mud! Nice Pipes....and gas was $0.23.....filled up under a buck! Sweet! Maybe I'll push it a little further and go 175 before filling up an dsee what I have left....
By the way, it's a stock Street Bob 06 Maybe the passenger Pillion is dragging me down....
Just went on a over 1000 mile trip on my bike, loaded with luggage bag and 2 up. I ran the **** out of it, averaged 75-80 mph on the interstate. 160-165 miles per tank, averaged 3.7-4.1 galons per fillup.
I've thought about this one quite a bit because I have had the same experience. The gas gauge says empty and I only put 3.5 gallons in. Conclusion, I need to rely on reserve gas after about 150 miles. I'm empty after about 185. I learned this the hard way. So, I guess I get between 30-40. My wrist is a bit erratic at times.
I have done everything I know of the try and get more than 40 mpg since the day I brought my bike home and I just can't do it. It doesn't matter if I'm cruising the country back roads or doing 70 on the interstate I get 40 mpg. My two trips on the BRP I got 47.5 mpg. So far my gas guage seems accurate so I can't complain about that. I get between 150 - 160 miles until I hit reserve. Filling up when I het reserve I put in 4.0 gallons.
When I stop for gas, I try to wait a little while after my light comes on....I usually go about 100-120 miles per tank. I almost always put 3.5 gallons in....never fails.....I always have 1.5 gals left in the tank even when it says I'm really low...How about you? how many gallons are you putting in and how many miles have you gone.....I guess I'm getting about 28-35 miles per gallon....not 44 for sure....I usually do street riding. not a lot of highway... I'm usually speeding and the first off the line....I can't help it. Maybe the reason for the &(*^% gas mileage....twist the wrist....you have to in San Diego or you'll get run over...
Thanks
cw
I have a stock 06 Low Rider. The most I have put in is 4.736 gallons. Did 198.9 miles on that tank.
I run by the second trip odometer. Reset it on every refill. Usually start looking at 180 miles.
