Solved '06 Wide Glide Shield Height Problem
One of the forum members sold me the windshield he bought from Harley for his 2006 Wide Glide. (He didn't like it.)
The shield arrived. I am very pleased.
It would be hard for anyone to tell that it was ever used.
When I installed it, the shield cutout for the headlight had to be above the headlight.
That made the windshield much too high. It had to be mounted with the upper clamps tight against the upper slide yoke. Could only move down about a half inch before it would touch the light.
The height was so high that I immediately began thinking I made a mistake buying it. I considered running it through a band saw to cut it down to where I could see over it.
After I thought about it overnight, I decided to try and move the light backward till I could lower the shield. I did that and was able to lower the shield till the lower clamps were tight against the lower slide yoke. That totally solved the problem. The way its set up now, the light is 1/3 rd covered by the shield, but I don't mind that.
I tried it out and was very satisfied with the way it blocked the wind.
If I want, I can raise it some and still see over the top.

Wait till you ride at night with the headlight partially blocked by the windshield. The reflection back to your face is blinding especially with the high beams on. You're probably going to end up having to cut the shield to get it to function the way you want it to.
