love the new 07 engines, but man, what a pain in the *** it is when it comes to putting an exhaust on it. It's not like you can just throw on a set of SEII's (like on my wife's 04 carb'd sportster). seems like i only have 2 options:
1) put on HD's 07 SE pipes (which have a "removeable" baffle supposedly, but are 7db quieter than last year's SEII's). ($300 + $150 cpu download +half hour labor)
2) put on an aftermarket slip-on, but need to add a programmer, and have it dyno-tuned, in addition to the cost of the pipes. ($350, $350, + 1.5hr labor)
... am i missing something here, when putting on aftermarket pipes should be CHEAPER than HD's??? Are these my only options? i'm leaning toward #1 above, anyone have this same setup? i also am gettting the 103 BigBoreII kit put on at the same time.
If you're getting the 103" kit you will have to remap anyway and it's not included in the kit. Get the SERT instead of the download. You're only out the cost of pipes. Any of the pipes for `06 models should fit. You 'may' be ok with the stock Stage II 103" map with just slip-ons. For a full exhaust system, it will have to be tuned.
Welcome to our world! lol
It cost me $1100 to get the stage one and samson exhaust system put on! And that was just getting the HD download! [sm=jawdrop.gif]I miss the good old days when you could buy a $300 set of pipes and a $20 jet and be done! lol
I got all my A/C and exhaust upgrades for my 06 Bob from American Classic Motors on Ebay. Saved a bunch of money and did the labor myself, which saved me another $10,000 from the stealer . I don't know if my exact setup would fit an 07, but you should be able to get what you need. Also, I did not get my Bob dyno-tuned after installing the fuelpalk. IMHO the seting provided by Vance and Hines are good enough and my bike runs great. I do not need to race tune it to perfection. Especially seeing as the Harley Dowlnload is generic and only "close" to what you want anyway.
Here is my setup.
V&H Straightshots HS Slip-ons $195
V&H Fuelpak $204
Arlen Ness Big Sucker w/chrome backing plate $110 (it is a little cheaper if you don't get the chrome backing plate)
Labor $0 (did it myself)
Try this link for the Arlen Ness A/C and then go to their Ebay store to search for the rest.
Is the 07 exhaust the same as the 06. I havnt been able to find much info on the difference but it looks that it is different. I am wondering if they brought an idea over from the buell line up, that being the interactive exhaust, just curious.
