I like the t bag but not a big fan of the sissy bar. I agree that saddlebags dont look right on the street bob as well. I saw one bag that fastens under the passenger seat and doesnt require a sissy bar. It was a little pricey (150 i think). May just go with the bungee net. Ive never had a problem with packing light so i should be ok. Just dont want what little i do bring to come loose during the ride.
I don't know how you ride or how far, but I can tell you if you plan on crossing this country or taking really long rides, a good set on bags will be money well spent. I have pushed over 600 miles in a day with nothing more than a cargo net and it sucked ***. Maybe its just age or I like alittle comfort. Be your on, build it the way you like. Who cares what everyone eles think. Just ride.
One of the best purchases I ever made was the Biker's Friend XL Bag. It not only holds a ton of stuff, it acts as a backrest as well. I also have Edge bags/brackets...this is a very good system but requires moving your rear signal lights and if I had to do it again, I would get larger bags. Did 2,800 miles in one week with what you see pictured. Have fun.

Totally agree with the backrest concept. I dont like carrying anything on my bike but broke down bought a short sissy bar and have been strapping any old gym/duffel bag to it (on the passenger seat). The fantastic thing was it does make a great backrest! Sometimes spending more money on these expensive bag setups is money down the drain. I certainly wont buy saddlebags or fancy sissy bar setups--the bungee'd gym bag/backrest works great for me. Id like to upgrade the bag to a nice leather roll bag some day though.
Only drawback is it can be hard getting on/off the bike when you've just burned through a full tank.
I have a quick detach sissy bar (with side plates), so it's all easy on/off. A biker's friend for behind me, and Kuryakyn granthrowover saddle bags - these do not require mounting hardware and are literally on/off the bike in about a minute.
I have a roll bag, it's about 2ft long and 10'' in diam. I mount it to my bars and sits on top of head light, good place to keep all quick access stuff. I also used to ride with it all the time for jackets and what not.

Amen to that..
However after 150+ miles at my age, it can get tuff getting off the bike, even without a roll bag.
I have a small saddleman roll bag for work and beer runs works great.
I also have a XL Blkerfriend for long hauls, Sure is nice to lean back on...
(dont use anymore since I got the tour pac).
