I'm replacing my switch housings and just picked up the chrome kit. I was suprised to see that the instructions say you need to pull the turn signal wires and release the wires from the connectors in wide glide and street bob models, but it doesn't have this step for any other dyna. I thought they all had the signals up on the bars in 06, wouldn't they all be the same?
I have to admit, I'm a little frustrated because i didn't envision this project to be such a PITA!
believe it or not .its not that bad of a job to do.the only thing that is a pain is the little clips to your throttle cable.like to fall off.keep a good eye on them, and u will be all right.about 1/2-1hr job.just enough time for a couple beers in the garage
Alright, I'll take your word for it. I've fought with the throttle and idle cables before, so if the wiring is easier than that I'm not so worried. Thanks.
ya the only thing you do is unbolt the housings.and thier is a small tourqe bolt in thier, holding your buttons in place.take that bolt out and pull your buttons out.know just bolt the buttons back on the new housings and put back together.make sure you dont pinch the wires when you put the housing back on your handlebars.after you install them, make sure all your buttons work properly.and thats about it.
I just looked briefly at the new housings and I can't see any way that I would get the turn signal wires through without taking them out of the connectors. Can you give me a little more detail on how yours went?
Alright, I'm counting on someone to argue my logic, as it's often flawed.
Rather than get into the wiring in the frame, disconnect it, pull the wires from the connector, etc., couldn't I just cut the turn signal wire where it enters the switch housing and solder it when I put it all back together? I'm better with a soldering iron than with wiring connectors...
Someone please tell me why this is wrong, or I'm doing it tomorrow.
