My Fat Bob vs Deer.....and I won
went for a ride with my daughter a few hours ago. Cruising along 45-50 mph when I hear my daughter yell "Deeeeeeer". A second later all I see is brown coming at me from left side and we collide. Deer struck left side of front tire, my left foot and leg. Daughter knows to tap me on shoulder and point at anything she thinks might jump in front of us. When she yeld I just reacted and tensed up. I believe this kept me from being relaxed and was able to handle the impact. I pulled over and we got off bike. Daughter was shaking like a leaf in a huricane. She was ok. Nice guy behind us saw the whole thing and stopped to check on us. He said deer was DOA. Only damage to bike that I could see was front fender all twisted up. Twisted it back so I had no tire rub and then rode 2 miles down the road where local HD dealer has bike night every Friday til 8pm. Told George in service what just happened and asked if he would check out the bike to make sure it was ok to ride. He looked it over, grabbed his helmet and took off. Only thing we found was bent up fender and lots of deer hair. He said the bigger forks on the Fat Bob plus the Superbrace probably saved the day. I bought the brace for looks but it did serve a better purpose. Left ankle is now wrapped in ice and hurts like hell. I wish to give another big thank you to George from O'Toole's HD for helping me out. They are a small but very good dealer. Next week I have to get new rear tire and will have O'tooles give the bike a good inspection just to be sure.
8/14/10 Update. Ankle all better. Found some scuff marks on the underside of fuel tank from deer. Looks like they will buff out
anyone know where to get a front fender for 09 fat bob in red hot sunglo. moco wants $290. To steep for me right now. Did not find one in this forum.

At the dealer talking to a few guys and telling them what just happened one of them jumped in his truck and headed up the road. 20 min later when I drove by "the scene of accident" the deer was gone. Looks like bambi bugers for him

holy hell dude. this story gave me the chills. my little one isnt old enough to ride but i cant imagine what that was like with your own little girl.
i think you are giving the bike waaay too much credit. to hit a deer hard enough to kill it on a motorcycle, two up, and not go down is INCREDIBLE riding control. your daughter is lucky her dad can ride the hell out of his bike.

Damn!!!!!!!! Glad your both alright, I've come close but never actually hit one, I did however nail a racoon with my boot heel, sent him flying and almost lost it myself. Damn good control on your part.
