Hey; I'm at work and don't have my bike......... does anyone know off hand (or if you are near your bike with a tape measure in your hand) what the overall width of the SB triple trees is? I'm looking at a set of bars on the net that look pretty cool but I'm thinking they might be too wide......... I don't like apes that are wider than the forks.
Oh and here is the link to the Paughco catalogue. The ones I'm looking at are the Paughco "Straight Apes" - I like that they go straight up without flaring out from the base and that the tips dont drop down from the top bend but are parallel to the ground; just worried that they will be too wide for what I want (they are 12.5" wide between the vertical rise portions)
They got some other pretty nice stuff too....... good prices.
P/N 56079-93T is a chrome version of the stock bars. Hope that helps.
thanks - that helps a bit; those stock bars are pretty much the same width as the forks - but I'm looking for the actual meaurement of the width of the front forks (across the top of the triple tree)
Okay, not completely sure what you're asking for, but here goes. On my 07 SB, the outside to outside dimension of the forks is about 10". The top tree plate itself is more like 10 3/4"
Well according to the chart from Wild 1 Chubby the stock Street Bob bars are 8 inches wide in the clamp area. See here http://wild1inc.com/STOCK_HD_BARS.pdf
Also according to that chart the 09 and up Street Bobs have 12 inch high bars as opposed to the 10 inch ones on earlier Street Bobs. Hmm
Anyways, I believe these are my exact bars
As you can see they say 9.5" across and as you can see in my picture below they stick out a little wider than the forks, which you say you don't like. So maybe 8.5 inches will be pushing the limit.

OK that's what I needed thanks. Looks like these bars are going to be about 2" wider than what I want.......... too bad cuz I like the style and they are dirt cheap ($66) - hmmmm wonder if I could just get someone to cut a couple of inches out of the middle and weld em back up.............
