Front Master Cylinder Compaibility
With my dual disc project in the works I will be needing a new master cylinder but am not familiar enough with other models to know what is compatible. I know I need an 11/16 bore but what other (late models) use the same style MC and do any have a mount casting that changes how it sits on the bars or are they all the same........meaning either single or dual disc? There seem to be lots of touring model master cylinders on ebay but I dont know if they will match up with the stock one - 2010 FXDC

That was the plan but I found that there are lots of new take offs from touri g models dirt cheap - was just at dealer looking at them and other than a larger reservior there doesn't seem to be much difference. No FB there to compare with.

Master cyl
Generally....
Dual disc bikes = 11/16"
Single disc bikes = 5/8"
You can run the smaller master if you want higher line pressure. Replace the rubber and steel stock brake hoses with teflon/SS braid, otherwise you'll get too much swell with the higher line pressure.
5/8" master, teflon hoses, good pads and you'll be amazed at the improvement with dual discs.

I used 09 touring master cylinder with the matching clutch perch as a set from ebay on my 08FXDC. They work fine with the exsisting switch housings but are completely diff. I got the dual brembos on front and it WILL STOP NOW! Btw the banjo bolt on the master from the touring is the same thread size as the one at the caliper.

I will try to get pics up soon as I can. The perches and levers have a different style and pivot pin size isnt the same but the angle and feel is the same. Hope this helps. I also put RaceTech valves in the fork to control nose dive and with the dual brake set up i would say they are necessary. It dives bad enough with one caliper and they work great.
