parts stolen off my bike!!!
Lots and lots of carry permits down here. Really a lot. And the laws really do protect law-abiding citzens. We had a guy not too far from here chasing another guy down the street after he'd stolen a generator out of his garage. Seriously, the bad guy just walked into the garage and walked out with a small generator.
The homeowner took off on foot, ran him down and shot him. They arrested him, of course, but the State Attorney's office refused to press charges. In Florida, you have the right to use deadly force to recover something that's stolen from you. The Press went nuts, naturally. Too bad, it's the law. There's also no 'must retreat' law. Somebody's messing with you, somebody's trying to rob you? Blow him away and worry about it later.
Not that I would. A few stolen parts isn't worth shooting someone, IMHO. Not that he doesn't deserve it. It's just more hassle than it's worth.
But what I would have done (and I have done it) is snap a quick picture of the suspicious-looking baddy with my cell phone. If you're unarmed, snap a pic of his license plate as he's leaving. Done that, too.
Big time +2 on asking the dealer to review his security tapes. Unless it's been too long. They usually record over them every so often.
Your parts are gone. You'll probably never see them again unless you go to a swap meet and get lucky. Even then -- Sucks to be you if you can't prove ownership. And the Cops? Not interested in Property Crimes. Just -- Really not interested. Trust me on that one.
Why should they be? They arrest a thief, they gotta provide him with a free Attorney, they gotta feed him, cloth him, give him medical and dental care, and guard him. Costs a lot of money.
They're much more interested in giving you a DUI or a speeding ticket. They're getting rich on those. Billions (yes, BILLIONS, not millions) of dollars a year from speeding tickets, DUIs, etc. Not to mention the lawyers that are getting stinking rich 'defending' people who got DUIs. Another multi BILLION dollar business.
Even the Feds are involved. They're offering money (big money) to States that pass, and enforce, seat belt laws.
The Cops find your stolen parts? Right.

Dang dude, that sucks.
The dealer here let's us park right up front by the service department with it's big front window to watch everything....
I park right up front in the blue handicap parking since I ride with a Disabled-Veteran tag. It pisses some people off, oh-well that's their issue not mine I have to live with the disability not them.
