EVERYTHING IS SETTLED...they said the EFI was running too much gas into the motor, filled the cylinders with fuel then that somehow blew the motor that caused it to lock up and when the gas buildup came out the aircleaner it caught fire...I DONT KNOW DONT ASK.. they inspected it up in springfield and that is what they came up with..harley payed its part of the gap insurence and the check is on its way to the bank like i said its not my bike its the inlaws bike and this is what they told me was the cause soooo still kinda seems weird that that happend but idk its all over with...they didnt make a dime on it in fact they are out a little bit of money.. they said they will hold their payments for 3 months to give the bank time to pay off the loan but they owe nothing more on the bike
went riding following father in law bro in lawwith me today made it about 1/4 mile from house and the back wheel on the 2009 883L LOCKED UP while going around a little sweeper FLAMES SHOT OUT OF THE MOTOR not little ones HUGE FLAMES that caught the grass on the sholder on fire its fishtailing at about 45mph the pegs start to hit the ground and it goes down sliding about 15-20 feet when it stoppes 11 or so foot flames shoot up..he bails off im locking up my fxdx in the death wobble because im full on both brakes almost hit the flaming pile of 883 try to bail off my bike to make sure he isnt in the wreckage burning get the bike stopped broke my toe trying to bail off and save him ...he was fine little road rash and hurt ankle.. the whole bike burnt to the ground had less than 1000 miles on it WTF HAPPEND? any ideas... the idle was about 150-200 rpms high that is the only sign..i figured cuz it hasnt been ridden in a few weeks..
the bike had zero mods and we check the oil and tires before we ride everytime..had super unleaded gas in it and less than 1000 miles on the bike..

insurance said take it to a repair shop and see what the damages are... ITS MELTED TO THE PAVEMENT..ooh yea the grimlin bell was melted to the pavement in a ball and all that was left were the angel wings...after further looking it was a flaming skull and wings coming off..it was the one with the motorcycle wheel and the wings... crazy huh? the rear wheel was completely gone it turned into a puddle. THANK GAWD FOR FULL COVERAGE and harley paying for the deductable poor bike didnt even make it to the 1000 mile maintenance

I'm more curious as to what caused it to burst into flames. I can understand the back wheel locking up for some crazy reason but where did that first fireball explosion come from?

Glad everybody's alright , because of the year and low mileage the dealer and insurance co will be investigating the source/cause of the fire and wheel lockup before they payout , been there done that ! Good Luck !!
