98 Wide Glide Dyno Graph
I bought my 98 Wide Glide about 3 months ago from a guy that I know. He takes very good care of his toys but never uses them. The bike only had 3800 miles on it but has a ton of chrome and upgrades. He kept all the records and just brought me a dyno sheet for the bike. The dyno was done in 99 but I thought it was kinda cool to see where the bike was/is regarding horsepower and torque. The list of major mods from the receipts and talking to the guy are:
-Mackie Performance Package (DM 580 cam, pistons, springs and head work)
-Mikuni 42 carb and Mikuni Air Cleaner
-Rinehart Exhaust
-HI 4 single fire ignition
The Dyno chart attached shows a maximum of 84 hp/83 tq at 5600/4900 rpms respectively. Seems good to me considering that the motor is still 80 cubic inches and that equates to a little over 1 hp and 1 ft-lbs per cubic inch. The only thing that looks odd to me is the dip in torque, 62 ft-lbs at 3100 rpm. The bike pulls hard and the dynometer in my *** says that it has plenty of power.
I plan on taking it to my local shop for another dyno run sometime in the near future but I wanted to see what you guys thought about the graph and numbers. I've been reading and hearing a lot about the newer motors and the numbers they are getting but I will stick with my little 80 inch. This setup should be relatively reliable too, which is very important to me. Feel free to bash, compliment, offer observations or state your results with similar setups.
