Default Harley tradition

Question, I was running down the road at about 60 this afternoon & had a loud pop & loud whining sound, The sprocket appears loose now, Tranny seems to be shifting gears but no drive to the wheel. primary chain & clutch look OK, What do you think happend? Stripped sprocket or tranny trouble? Oh yes its a 1994 FXDWG.

Time too start tearing it down till you find the problem. Hard to speculate til you actually see what's blown. At least thats how it seems. One thing is sure, your tranny is f*&ked.

See if your rear sprocket bolts (to rear hub) didn't shear.

Well I may have lucked out, The trans. pully nut had worked loose & it stripped the teeth in the pully, I said MAY HAVE, The only problem is it looks like it buggered the starting thread on the shaft a little. So if im really lucky (which is usually not the case) I may get by with changing the pully, nut & lock ring. if anyone has any advise on fixing the starting thread i would really appreicate it.

Yeah, jewellers files, a magnifying lamp, and some patience. Good luck.
