Has anyone in the UK seen this?
The supplier was going to fit an Arlen Ness Big Sucker air cleaner but then ran into a problem which only seems to affect UK (possibly European) bikes, we think.
He discovered a flap, that he had not seen before, inside the standard air intake at the front of the filter. This flap is normally partially open and has a motor which fully opens the flap at about 70% throttle. The purpose is not clear but in talking to Harley Davidson UK it is something to do with wind rush and noise!
The advice he was given was to remove it and throw it away, and then map the bike as a Softail to compensate! My supplier was reluctant to do this as the device is obviously there for a reason and if nothing else will provide a resistance to the fuel injection system. So he decided to fit a different back plate (screamin eagle I think) and a S&S filter. Then he mounted the device still connected to the back of the plate (as shown). The flap will not actually do anything now other than complete the circuit. He then mapped it correctly as a Dyna. You will also see he had to cut away the plastic surround to remove this part.
However the bike runs and sounds great. Just thought I would share this story with others.

The solenoid is controlled by the ECM. The valve opens to allow more air to enter at speeds greater than 70 km/h with a throttle opening greater than 50%.

Kitech Tuning Eliminator plugs
These plugs fit 2007 / 2008 Harley-Davidson Big Twins
The KPL-200011 is used when you replace the stock air intake on Harley-Davidsons with an active air flap. The plug fits into the socket left when the Active air flap solenoid is removed. Fitting the plug stops the ECU from indicating a Diagnostic Trouble Code.
