Default Quick tire question (front)

Been reading a lot on this board as whether a 140 or a 150 will fit on my 01 FXD. But the question I have is has anyone put a 110 up front to replace the 100. Seems like a good upgrade. Any issues, ready to re-tire. Oh yeah what is the real answer to the 140 150 question for an 01. Thanks - GeorgeJ

What size tires on yours. I think to do an over size tire you might have to replace the swing arm, but I could be wrong. You might be able to change the spacers.

Stock is 130 rear and 100 front. In 02 they all came with 150's in the rear. Interesting thing is the FXDX in 00 and 01 had a 150. Maybe it's because of the taller shocks on that bike. Just wondering if anyone put a 150 on an 01 or even an 00. Have to put tires on so now's the time to figure this out.

I've been asking this question on here for awhile and get no response. I talked to a local shop owner and he said he thinks a 110 will fit but just barely. It's the way the fender bracket is built it doesn't give much room to go wider and all the room in the world to go taller.I've never liked the look of a big gap between the fender and tire.Might have to re-engineer the fender mounting brackets to get something bigger on there.Aren't bobbers supposed to have big fat FL wheels an tires on the front anyway?

I don't know anything about the front tire... But on the back tire, I wanted to try a 150 to replace my 130. I talked to some service guys around here, and they all told me that a 150 would rub on the studs holding my turn signals. They said a 140 might be alright. But I figured there wasn't much difference in a 130 and a 140, so I just put a 130 on to be safe.

You can almost always go 1 size wider and 1 size taller than stock.I think they build that in because tire manufacturers dont seem to be on the same sheet of music.Different profiles cause noticeable differences in width hiegth etc.IE. Dunlaps tend to be wider than bridgestones Avons tend to be wide too. Also a too wide tire tends to get pinched in and look narrower and taller. You definately dont want taller in the rear it raises the gearing and often slows bikes down.

My friend has a 97 sportster and put a 110 metzeler on the front and it fits fine, no rubber, but it only clears the fender by about a millimeter and it actually looks kinda goofy. The 100 looks better cause it looks like it fits. The 110 looks like it rubs but doesn't, but it doesn't look right.
