I have a J&S jack. I wash the bike first then I bring it in put it up on the jack and start detailing. The J&S works with all models. No need for adapters. Best $$$ you will ever spend.
I've never had any issues, but I wouldn't jack my bike up that high unless there was a need.
If your talking about the bikes in my photos. The people from J&S said, (I talked to them at a bike show) that the most stable position is the highest. I use this lift every day with all models of Harley's, Victory's and other MFG bikes for the last two years, with no problems.
If your worried about the bike falling, use straps. The bike can fall over at the lowest position, using any lift, if the bike isn't strapped down. The J&S is the only one I would trust without straps.
My bike fell over with a Sears yellow lift strapped down, using the crappy Harley adapters. The Sears lift went into the trash along with the adapters. I would not even give it away to my worst enemy.
I have an old PitBull jack.
I wash my scoot on the jack, then I roll the whole thing into my garage for drying.
Been doin' it since 1995, never had any problems....
Thanks for all the input. I'm not worried about the bike falling off, the J & S is very stable. I was concerned about rust on the lift or the bottle jack. With reasonable care I don't think there will be a problem. Thanks again for all the input
Pitbull and J&S are the two best lifts that I know of. I have a J&S...LOVE IT! And yes, I jack it up as high as it goes to wash my bike. Much easier to get to certain spots under the bike.
I don't know if the pitbull will work without the adapters. The J&S definitely needs nothing else and is rock friggin solid. It's the only jack I'd trust lifting a dyna without straps.
