Thanks. I didn't consider that.

I switched my 29" wide buckhorns to 4-1/2" risers and 27-3/8" drags and couldn't see behind me, but the original set up was also useless as far as the rear view mirrors were concerned. This riser/bar combo was great for u-turns and handling and was the best feeling bar set-up that I've ever had on this bike.

Still, my cables were too long, rather than shortening them all I just switched to 30-1/2" wide drags and 8" risers. I was hoping to gain a better rear view from my mirrors, the view improved a lot, but the stock mirrors, being about 1-1/4" shy of the hand grip ends, still showed mostly my arms.

I'm still waiting for my Mini American long stem mirrors to arrive from J&P (part no 750-362) that should give me 2 more inches of width and a nice sized mirror.

I'm hoping that the sturdy stems of these mirrors won't transfer too much vibration.

Your size and arm length are obviously key factors in the mirror issue. I just sat on mine (stock bars/mirrors) and for the life of me can't understand how I could get my elbows in the way

Good luck on the issue!

Rode plastic bikes for years and you get used to seeing your elbows, in fact I feel like I'm missing something if I cant see them - so I adjust mine so I can just see the edges

True statement ^ Ride an '08 1000RR for a few thousand miles. You don't see anything but elbows in your mirrors until you turn them in to see behind you. I feel like I have eyes in the back of my head on my Fatbob compared to that bike!

Personally I believe if you capture your elbow and a bit of your forearm, you are narrowing your blind spot.

I know the problem, and had it big time with the stock mirrors. I bought the tear drop script HD mirrors (overpriced, I know, but nice) and they give me about an inch more view as they're longer. Not only that, you set them and forget them; they're very secure and don't vibrate or shake out of adjustment.

Thanks Robert. They look great too. What H-D accessory isn't a little pricey, right?

That's really true. Lots of them are way too expensive. But it's not just Harley. I wanted a compass and bought one that used to be offered by Victory for their motorcycles. NICE compass, but sixty-five bucks!

I really wanted THESE, but they were twice as expensive! Maybe one day, I think they'd solve the problem:

Anyone tried the extension kit?

I'm curious if the LH side one vibrates itself into a blur like the stock one does. Mine doesn't move but it's not much use when the engine is running.
