A complete bike wash with simple green, then a thorough drying and a detail with s100 engine brite

+1 Exactly. My local HD stealer can't keep enough of that stuff on the shelves even with the hefty price tag.

Never tried the WD40, perhaps its worth a try.

Just spray it on all the black parts as well as your chrome. Let it it sit while you get the hose and bucket ready. Then wash your bike as normal. The black will look brand new.

Just be careful if you use it on your wheels. Do NOT get any on your brake pads because it is slicker than snot and will take a few miles before it burns off.

Just a thought.

On second thought, I think it's Turtle Wax Color Magic. But it's black.

Whatever.

WD-40, and for the parts that you accidentally get the chrome bright on....dip your finger in some clean motor oil and let it sit in....then wipe it around. It'll darken it back up.
