The powers that be in Wisconsin have put in countless hours into giving us the best possible combination of ride quality, stability, and comfort that can be attained without running into other unforseeable problems further down the road. Leave her alone, she looks good as she is. JM2C.
You can get some Ikons that are 1" lowered, and put some heavier springs on them. Adjustable external rebound, internal compression.
I got stock shocks and added the next heavier springs for 2-up riding (when I hit 230# and the 'passenger' was 165#)
Good shocks and you can order them for your weight. Good price.
PM me for more info. I dealt with Dave in SF and couldn't be happier.
I am at about 300 lbs and I have them on my fxd. I am going to put 12 inch Harley shocks on now. I cant take the hard ride any longer. The 11 inch 412 HD progressive shocks do not work for me.
Just installed the 412 heavy duties on my 2010 WG, progressive recommended HD's for any rider over 225# they told me not to go shorter then 11.5'' that either the fender will need trimmed or take off the belt guard. After a couple hundred miles can tell you the ride is slightly stiffer set on the lowest setting and I have 3/4 -1 clearance between the guard & fender plus it looks bad *** .
i have the 11in prog 412 looks bad *** i am 210 lbs and i have to tell you if i hit anytype of hole it chars the hell out of me i gave up ride quality for looks, you pay one way or anthother, i would pay 500 bucks all day long to get a good ride with a 11 in look, i also lowerd my front one in

Your 2 cents is appreciated, and I can understand where you're coming from. Lol, I'm also into wrenching on cars, and usually one mod that I did, would lead to me having to do another one that I really didn't want to. BUT, that's whats fun, making it your own, and going through all the headaches and problems.

The ride was really that bad, huh? Did you have the preload at the highest setting?

So you went with the 11.5" shocks? I'm actually going to pull my belt guard off, so maybe I would be able to use the 11" shocks. Hmmmmmmmm.....I see a phone call to progressive in my future. Thanks again everyone

And really how much actual diff with that 1/2" make? If it makes the ride better I'm betting the visuals of the bike will hardly be perceptible.
I had 11" 412's on my superglide and they were brutal. I sold them on ebay and went back to stock. They did look good, but you will suffer the ride.
You know I bought some, was going to replace mine with them but decided not to after I heard stories about rough rides.....now my cuz put some 440's on his 71 SG and loved them. Wonder if the 440's would work on my 03 or on the newer WG's?
