Are the replacement shoes any better? Or should you just go with the gear drive cams? terry

Not a whole lot of wear on mine from my '05 Super Glide with around 26,000 miles ... see photo ... probably less than 10% of the shoes worn off ...

For your interest and information, the inner shoe showed a little more wear than the outer shoe ....

At 13,000 miles doubt you have much wear, but worth looking at ...

As an aside ... I replaced them, since I was replacing the cams and had the cam chest dismantled ...

I had bought the tensioner shoes in preparation for the job not knowing what to expect and wanted to be prepared ....

Why go with a gear drive cam when you already have it? You aint running a twinkie.

I wouldnt worry about your motor for another 40,000 miles. EVO's are damn good motors. Once you hit 50k, then you can think about an 88 inch kit and possibly have your left side case welded and machined. About the only other shortcomings I can think of would be the lifter blocks and the pinion gear, and those need to be checked at 50k.

Get on it and ride, and dont worry what the rocket scientists here have to say
