ok so I got the stripes yesterday, so far so good, the little HD bar and shield are there, perfectly center for the front fender, the little print is also there, I know how KD is getting around the legal gorilla, the lines are slightly smaller and the color is slightly lighter, so unless you use a caliper to measure you are not going to be able to tell the difference.
So I called it good to go, and will proceed with the build.

Right you are...Tryed to order 100th Anniversary tank badges at Zanotti's; here's what they sent me in an email:
"Our policy on protected items is that we have to have the part in our hands before we order the new part when the damaged one has to be returned to HD"
Please don't get me wrong...not blaming them being loyal to MoCo policy!!
I have to respect a policy that wants to protect a customer's investment. The anniversary and CVO models garner a higher price, because they do look different.
With the MoCo being so stringent about anniversary paint, how is that company able to sell the pinstriping?
To get anything repaired on an anniversary bike, don't you have to show proof of ownership?
The dealers I have dealt with not only require proof of ownership, but they will not even order the part without having received from the purchaser, the part being replaced. They claim this is a requirement from the MoCo and that they have to send the part in before the MoCo will send a replacement part out. So, since I have an '03 WG I cannot convert that to a wider front end by buying , say a fatoby (or whatever) front anniversary tin.
ok update without pics( yeah I know, I suck) went a different route for my bike and did not put the stripes I have gotten for the tank and front fender, yes I am selling them.
bike still not done, got a big bore kit, mikuni carb, and few more goodies, in addition to the already done to it, so its at the shop..again
once it finally done...next Jan. I will post pics of all of the improvements.
