4700 miles and no problems..... dealer will usually oil it at maintnence time. i keep the sock on all the time. keeps out the rain and heavier dust. looks better with it on as well.

The heavy breather comes with a rain sock and the filter element is washable. Don't know weather you have to oil that one or not. Alot of guys run open elements and get rained on with no problem.

They come with a rain sock. I clean and re-oil mine 1 time a year.

I've had one for 17,000 miles. Never had a problem with the rain, and I've driven through a few gully-washers.

With any exposed air cleaner they will get dirty faster and need to be oiled more often than the others. I usually clean & oil mine when I change my oil, every 2500 miles.

Had my H Breather since new. Have ridden much in rain..... including some heavy deluges under Texas mega-thunderstorms where I couldn't see 15 feet. I have never used the condom on the breather, and it has never missed a beat.
After heavy rain rides, a re-oiling is in order.
