I'm not really caught up with the touring bikes myself. Just too much bike for me, plus I've been known to tip mine over on occasion and I would be in tears when I snapped off something that cost more than a hundred or two to replace.
The only thing I don't like about fixed fairings is that when turning left or right, your headlight stays straight ahead. My old yamaha xs11 had a fixed fairing and I damn near got killed one night because the headlight wasn't shining where I was going. I came within inches of slamming an off-ramp guardrail.
When I got my Street Bob i was also looking at the Street Glide, the only thing that stopped me from getting the SG was the 6k that I didn't have in my pocket. But after I have my SB paid off next year, I will opt to put a SG in my garage next to my SB. That is if my wife stops bugging me to get a truck.
