i'm planning some winter mods and will be taking off front and rear wheel for tires and rotors. rear wheel is a hassel for me so i like the idea of doing the wheel bearings at the same time. would you re-pack them or replace them? not afraid of the work for either - just dont want to waste time. opinions?
problem is, if i decide to replace them - i am sure to send the wheels of to be powdercoated too. this just made the price really jump from repacking.
Aren't the bearings sealed? If they are you wouldn't be able to repack them. I got my wheels powdercoated and replaced the bearings. If you are worried about it, I would suggest just replacing them. Not really that expensive and then you know they are good.
Sounds like you already know what you want to do. I say go for it! If you don't powder coat, later on you may be kicking yourself for not doing while you had everything apart. Just my opinion.

Your call, but I believe the regular maintenance interval to re-pack is 10k.... just pull em, inspect em, and make your decision then... if they're good, just re-pack and button it up...
Unless of course you really want to PC.... you already know the answer then!
just bought the timkens at j&p. both shipped with seals for $25 - pretty good. i think one of the HD sealed bearings is around that. anyway, send jim at the powders pros a note - hope he returns it before i change my mind.
