After about 20 on the light I take 3.6 to fill. So that's just over 1.

When I first got mine was getting 38. Around 1K started to get around 40. Just did it this last fill at 2700 miles and got 42.5. The milage didn't vary between highway or in town much. Haven't rechecked highway lately though - although have plans in the next couple of weeks to take off for a ride with no destination and will check then.

I have also noticed if I don't have her upright the light comes on much earlier than if I start her leaning. The light has actually come on when I've had 1/2 a tank left a couple of times. Even had the dealer put gas in her when I brought her in for 1K cuz they started her leaning.

Forget about that light, use your tripmeter.

That is why there are two tripmeters.

Reset A everytime you top it off.

Reset B when you blast off from the crib.

Can't get any easier.

mud

That works too, the two trips and clock is a sweet extra

I was getting just over 40 with all stock parts. I added the Big Sucker, SE-2 Slip-Ons and the PCIII and it appears to have dropped to about 37. Would probably be higher if not for my leaded right wrist.

I installed a Kuryakyn L.E.D. gas/battery gauge and filler cap and the standard HD "One Gallon" warning light no longer works. The LED gauge flashes red L.E.D.s from empty to 1/8 tank, amber L.E.D.s appear from 1/4 to 1/2 tank, and green L.E.D.s appear from 5/8 to full. Still, I decided to tempt fate and see where "empty" really was.

I found out!

Between the new gauge and the new hardware, I really had no idea what to expect. Fortunately, I anticipated running out and was carrying a 20 oz bottle of gas. I have a 5.1 gallon tank and have decided 180 miles will be my limit before filling up. That'll guarantee me 35 MPG on 5 gallons. The rest is gravy. Getting that last .1 gallon into the tank is a bitch with modern gas pumps (Shell is the worst).

I don't worry too much about the gauge, just reset the odometer everytime I gas up. Trip meter hits around 130 miles I stop for fuel.
